    While honoring victims of the Holodomor, a mass starvation in the 1930's Soviet Union, the White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest subtly compared Russia's Vladimir Putin with Soviet premier Josef Stalin.

  • Putin signs a law allowing to seize foreign assets

    On Wednesday November 4, Russia’s president has signed legislation enabling countermeasures in the case of the wrongful arrest of Russian state property abroad.

    The law, based on reciprocity, curtails the jurisdictional immunity of the country in question if not agreed otherwise.

     The law will come into effect in 2016.

  • Soccer World Cup in Russia agreed before vote.

    FIFA president Sepp Blatter says there was a deal in place for Russia to host the 2018 World Cup - before the vote took place.

    The 79-year-old Blatter is serving a 90-day ban alongside Uefa chief Michel Platini.
