Lavrov: US has presented new proposals to resolve the situation in Aleppo

Russian Foreign MinisterSergey Lavrov stated the the American Secretary of State, John Kerry, while at the meeting in Rome, presented new proposals regarding the situation in Aleppo.

According to Lavrov, the previous proposals of the United States “supported the immunity of Jabhat al-Nusra, who is at the head of the terrorists in Aleppo, from any strikes.”

At the same time, the new proposals presented by Kerry, “are in line with the position of the Russian experts at the talks with the Americans,” noted the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Lavrov added that Russia is ready to immediately send diplomats and military experts to Generva in order to coordinate mutual operations with the US which will ensure that all the remaining militants leave Western Aleppo and will also allow for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the war-torn city.

Lavrov said that he hopes that this will not be just “meeting for the sake of meeting”. He expects specific timelines for the solution of the situation in Aleppo to be defined.
