Ukrainian Armed Forces gain control of another town in the Donbas

The Armed Forces of Ukraine took over the town of Katerynivka in the Luhansk region from the pro-Russian separatists, as stated by a volunteer, Yuriy Mysyagin, on his Facebook page.

“Some time ago, the Armed Forces of Ukraine did everything peacefully and quietly. Residents of the town returned to Ukraine again. There were no violations. This is all ours according to the Minsk Agreements,” he said.

The volunteer specified that earlier, the forefront of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the pro-Russian militants was on both sides of the town. Both reconnaissance-subversive groups of Ukrainian military and separatists used to enter the town.

“Now the shop is closed. The whole village is under Ukraine’s control. There is no need to write where our forefront is,” Mysyagin writes.

The Ukrainian military command in the Donbas later confirmed the information about the transition of Katerynivka under the control of Ukrainain Armed Forces.

“We are reporting that the town of Katerynivka in the Luhansk region, located near the line of contact, has been under Ukraine’s control for a long time. Members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have helped the local population to resolve vital issues and return to a peaceful life,” reads the Facebook statement of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Facebook.

This is the second town freed by the Ukrainian military in the Donbas.  Earlier, the Armed Forces of Ukraine took control of Novoaleksandrivka, which is also located in the Popasna region.
