Ukrainian Security Service uncovers an illegal ring exporting military aircraft parts to Russia

In the Kharkiv region, the Security Service officers exposed the supply channel of repaired units and equipment for military transport aviation to Russia, as reported by the press service of the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) on Facebook.

"Law enforcement officers established that a group of businessmen were using account details of economic entities under their control in Ukraine and the Russian Federation. They registered orders under legitimate Russian business entities, including those under sanctions according to Ukrainian law." Offenders smuggled into Ukraine used military transport aviation equipment for repair. They also illegally supplied the aggressor country with new spare parts. To cover the deal, the businessmen used specially created fictitious firms," the statement says.

Suspects were detained on the border in the latest attempt to export a shipment of goods. They face criminal charges under Section 333 of the Criminal Code referring to violation of the established procedure for exporting raw materials, parts, equipment, technologies that can be used to build rocket, nuclear, chemical, other weapons, military and special equipment.

The detainees face a fine of 1,700 to 3,400 UAH ($70-140 USD) or an imprisonment for up to three years.

Ukrainian aircraft manufacturers abandoned the use of Russian parts in 2015.
