Turchynov: Russia concentrating its military forces along Ukrainian borders

During an emergency meeting in Kyiv, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), Oleksandr Turchynov, stated that along the land borders of Ukraine and Russia, units of the Russian Armed Forces carry out training, perhaps for the invasion of Ukraine.

Turchynov noted that for five years Kremlin has been waging an undeclared war against Ukraine, but today for the first time, Moscow has attacked Ukrainian troops not disguising itself as various groups like “volunteers” or some kind of “militia”. At the same time, he noted that earlier, Russia tried to hide its actions by repeating “we are not there” and using, in particular, within the ranks of the Donbas pro-Russian militants, Russian soldiers in uniforms without insignia.

"We see that today, military units of the Armed Forces, the FSB of the Russian Federation attacked our Navy. That is why we speak about the danger of provocations not only in the Black and Azov seas but also on land. We see the active training of Russia’s military units along our northern, eastern and southern borders, "- said Turchynov. According to him, the time has come to impose the martial law in Ukraine.

As reported on November 25, Russian border guards attacked and captured two military boats and a tug boat of the Ukrainian Navy. All three vessels were damaged as a result of the attack by Russians. Six Ukrainian sailors were injured.

Previously, the Russian ship rammed the Ukrainian tug boat Yany Kapu, which, accompanied the Berdiansk and Nikopol armored boats, sailed from the port of Odessa to Mariupol.

Later, Russia blocked Kerch Strait with a tanker, which had disabled the automatic identification system.

Ukraine initiated the United Nations Security Council’s emergency meeting in connection with the situation in the Azov and Black Seas.

On Monday, the Ukrainian President signed the decree introducing the martial law in Ukraine.
