Separatist LPR introduces criminal liability for failure to pay social security tax

Authorities of the so-called LPR (Luhansk People’s Republic) have introduced criminal liability for non-payment of unified social contribution to compulsory state insurance, also known as the Unified Social Tax or UST, reported the terrorist-controlled online-resource LIC.

The corresponding decision was made by "the deputies of the People's Council of the LPR", adopting the so-called law “On Introducing Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the LPR."

The so-called legislative act amends "the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code of the LPR" and introduces a new component element of crime: evasion of Unified Social Tax payment.

As explained by the representative of the General Prosecutor's Office of the LPR, Alexandra Belokon, the decision was made "in order to replenish the budget and protect the social guarantees of the population."

According to her data, in 2016 to 2017, there were 24 cases connected with non-payment of taxes and charges in the investigative bodies, resulting in "total loss of more than 54 million rubles, of which about 10 million were caused by non-payment of UST."
The exact punishment incurred for non-payment of Unified Social Tax was not specified.
