SBU: Russian special services planning to falsify elections in Ukraine

Russia is deliberately working to falsify the results of future elections in Ukraine, scheduled for 2019, stated the deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Viktor Kononenko, at the National Expert Forum "Ukraine: Striving for Balance" in Kyiv, Radio Liberty reports.

"Today, the main threat is the undermining of the domestic situation. What we see is that the main efforts of Russian special services are now directed into the country. Already, no one believes in an early and lightning fast war and that everyone counts on the fact that power can be changed from within by bribery, through special arrangements. Deliberate efforts are being made to prepare for the 2019 elections," Kononenko said.

According to him, the SBU takes measures to "disrupt these plans of the enemy."

The next election of the President of Ukraine is scheduled for March 31, 2019. Elections for People's Deputies will be held on October 27, 2019.
