Putin: Russian Navy is ready to 'fight against any aggressor'

During the Navy Day parade held in St. Petersburg Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian Navy can respond to the actions of any aggressor. The event was broadcasted by RT TV channel.

In his opinion, the Navy's strength is guaranteed by "unique weapons," as well as the trained and courageous army. Russian President also assured that Russia will build "a fleet that is unique in its capabilities designed for a long-term historical perspective." In 2019, the Navy will receive 15 ships and combat boats, he said.

Navy Day is celebrated in Russia on the last Sunday of July. This year it marks the 323rd anniversary of the establishment of the Russian Navy. Forty-three ships and 4 thousand sailors participated in the solemn military parade in St. Petersburg. Other marches were also held in Vladivostok, Astrakhan, Sevastopol, Baltiysk, Severomorsk, as well as in the Syrian port of Tartus.
