Poroshenko and German President to discuss deployment of peacekeepers to Donbas
During an official visit to Ukraine, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will discuss the situation in the Donbas, as well as the potential deployment of a UN peacekeeping mission in the separatist-controlled areas of the Donbas, as reported on the website of the Ukrainian President.
"President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier will pay an official visit to Ukraine on 29-30 May 2018 at the invitation of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. They plan to discuss a wide range of issues in bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as well as ways Germany can further support Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration," the report says.
Special attention will be paid to the situation in the Donbas and the potential deployment of a UN peacekeeping mission in the region. The two parties will also discuss the state of reforms in Ukraine.
The visit schedule also includes time for Steinmeyer to visit to the city of Lviv.
The German President plans to address the students of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. In addition, as part of the German-Ukrainian Year of Languages, he will meet with German language students and teachers in Kyiv on May 30. He will also be meeting with students studying German in Lviv.
