Ukrainian Intelligence: Separatists are suffering from fuel shortages

Separatist troops from the self-proclaimed Republics of the Donbas are experiencing fuel shortages, reads a statement on Facebook made by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

The statement notes that regular supplies of weapons, military equipment and munitions for militias continue. There were 17 Ural trucks with munitions moved to Makiivka. Three armored personnel carriers were transferred after being repaired, as well as four KamAZ trucks and two UAZs.

However, the intelligence officers stated that they have observed an “insufficient supply of fuel and lubricants for enemy units”.

“It has been found that two units from the independent motorized brigade (Luhansk) had problems carrying out a planned rotation of staff on the frontline due to a lack of fuel,” the statement reads.

According to intelligence, Ukraine has provided the information about the presence of mortars and artillery systems above 100 mm caliber in the areas of Horlivka and Makiivka to representatives from the Special Monitoring Mission of the OSCE.

Armed confrontations between Ukrainian security forces and separatists from the self-proclaimed Republics of the Donbas region have been ongoing since April 2014. According to the latest UN data, since the start of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, 9,553 people have died and 22,137 people have been wounded. About 2,000 of these victims were civilians.
