Ukrainian Intelligence: Russia is preparing the residents of the Donbas to resist peacekeepers
The Russian Command of troops in the Donbas is preparing local citizens for organized resistance against the possible presence of an international peacekeeping mission. This was reported by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (HUR MOU) via Facebook.
“Training for ‘unarmed resistance to the invasion of the foreign armed mission’ has been planned in Luhansk on the 19th of July. According to the training schedule, a demonstration will be held on the possible scenarios relating to a clash between civilians and the armed peacekeepers, as well as showing possible solutions to these situations,” the HUR MOU said.
“Residents in the city are training under the leadership of Russian instructors. These exercises include ways to block and capture vehicles, the differentiation between civilians and armed groups, the release of parliamentarians, the disarmament of military peacekeepers and so on,” the HUR MOU added.
Special attention was also paid to photo and video falsification of evidence of violent actions by members of the peacekeeping mission against the civilians, as well as evidence of psychological pressure induced by the peacekeepers.
According to the intelligence service’s data, the aim of these exercises is to demonstrate the negative attitude of the local population towards the deployment of the armed police mission to the so-called Luhansk People's Republic.
According to the instrunctor of the training session, Maxim Velichko, "Ukraine says that local elections in the Donbas will be possible after the deployment of an international armed mission, but we disagree with it. This is the only reason why we’re training here. We want to say that we can ensure our safety in the LPR ourselves. We will never let an armed mission to work here. We won’t allow the movement of foreign agents in the LPR."
