Ukrainian Armed Forces: The situation on the frontline has gotten worse

Throughout the night and into the day, Russian troops opened fire 40 times against the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the press center of the Ukrainian Army Headquarters, the situation in the front line in eastern Ukraine has worsened; however, the Ukrainian forces remain in control of the situation.

In Donetsk, the seperatists fired on fortifications in Avdiivka and Opytne using 122 mm artillery, which is prohibited by the Minsk Agreements. The separatists also used twice 120 mm mortars in Avdiivka and three times in Novoselivka Druha.

Ukrainian soldiers in Mayorsk, Avdiivka and near the Butivka coal mine came under fire from grenade launchers and small fire arms; heavy machine guns were used near Troitske.

In Mariupol, Russian troops used 120 mm mortars shelling the Ukrainian positions near Chermalyk, Gnutove and Novohryhorivka. Separatits used 82-millimeter caliber mortars  three times near Krasnohorivka.

Ukrainian Forces also came under fire from grenade launchers in Novotroitske and Talakivka; near Novohryhorivka the enemy fired from a tank and there was sniper fire near Shyrokyne and Marinka.

The most volatile situation is in Novozvanivka, near Luhansk. Here, pro-Russian forces shelled Ukranian positions using 122 mm artillery, 120 and 82 mm mortars, anti-aircraft systems and small fire arms. Moreover,122 mm artillery, 82-mm mortars and grenade launchers were used near Novooleksandrivka, and a tank in the area of Popasna.
