Turchynov: A month would be enough to liberate the Donbas

National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov declared that Ukrainian troops have waited enough months to liberate the Donbas.

According to Secretary, the battles for the Svitlodarsk salient and Avdiivka have shown that the Ukrainian army is stronger than the "hybrid Russian troops".

"With today's balance of forces, we need only a month to completely clear the area of the Donbas," said Turchynov during an interview with Censor.net.

At the same time, the NSDC Secretary remarked that if such an operation is started, it is not known how many of its divisions Russia will mount against Ukraine.

"All these numerous, well-armed units occupying the Donbas; their main objective is that in the case that we launch an offensive, the units will last a few days before the main forces of the Russian army arrive," he said.

This month, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said that the Donbas will return to Ukraine within a year and a half. In the fall, he proclaimed that the National Guard will liberate the Donbas, and that this would happen within two years.
