Savchenko spoke of her meeting with Zakharchenko and Plotnitsky

The Deputy of Verkhovna Rada, Nadiya Savchenko, said that she met with the leadership of the self-proclaimed Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republic (LPR and DPR), Igor Plotnitsky and Alexander Zakharchenko, and "the Russian side" was also present. On Monday, December 12, she said this in her speech at the Sofia Square in Kyiv, 112 Ukraine TV channel reports.

"Yes, there was a meeting in trilateral Minsk format where 'the Russian side', Zakharchenko and Plotnitsky were present. The meeting aimed to strengthen the 'Minsk format' and make it more effective in the near future," the deputy said.

"People need to be freed, the war needs to end," Savchenko said. She added that she saw in the leaders of LPR and DPR "people, not devils." Not to mention that she called the talks effective.

Earlier that day, the head of LPR, Igor Plotnitsky said that he met with Savchenko and discussed with her the exchange of prisoners. He noted that he also considered the meeting useful. According to him, the Verkhovna Rada " must see and hear their voice so as to understand the situation."

The Ukrainian Internet portal wrote that the talks were held in Minsk. According to the portal, the negotiations lasted several hours, they were organized, among others with the help of the Russian Embassy in Belarus. The exact date of the meeting is not mentioned.

Savchenko has repeatedly expressed her willingness to talk with the leaders of the republics of the Donbas and that is the reason in June this year she said that dialogue is necessary for the exchange of prisoners.
