Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin joined the Donetsk People’s Republic
Russian writer, Zakhar Prilepin, joined the Donetsk People’s Republic and is the Deputy Commander of one of the armed groups. Zakhar Prilepin stated in his commentary to Dozhd TV that his battalion was formed in the summer of 2016 and is currently stationed at the frontline. The Russian writer claims that he is waging war against the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“If you understand what you are asking, I, as Deputy Commander of the battalion, can’t refuse to participate in anything. The battalion is stationed at the frontline and carries out military missions,” Prilepin said. In his interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, Zakhar Prilepin stated that the ultimate purpose of war in the Donbas is the capture of Kyiv and the whole of Ukraine by the Russians.
“Kyiv is a Russian town. A Russian, Ukrainian town. Our job is to obey. Senior management will make a decision. However, I think that there should not be any more mistakes, like the ones that were made regarding Yanukovych. They fully understand that if they put some people, let us say, Sidorov, Tymoshenko, and Medvedchuk in prison, and reach an agreement on all issues, these issues will resurface, not in four years, but in a month, and the same things will happen. I think, they aren’t foolish enough to commit the same mistakes again. The whole of Ukraine is the goal,” Prilepin said.
Prilepin works for Russian Tsargrad TV, which belongs to the orthodox oligarch and sponsor of the separatists in the Donbas, Konstantin Malofeev. Two well-known separatists, Arsen Pavlov (Motorola) and Mikhail Tolstykh were killed in the Donbas in late 2016 and early 2017.
