Activists block 14 Russian trucks in Ukraine

Representatives of the ‘Freedom Party’ reported that 14 vehicles were detained in Chernovitskaya during the blocking of Russian trucks through Ukraine.

“Deputies of the local and regional councils participated in the blockade. Now, there are 14 Russian vehicles near the Prorubne checkpoint. The trucks will not be allowed entry.” as was reported on the 27th of February by the ‘Freedom Party.’

The representatives of the ‘Freedom Party’ and other activists are blocking Russian trucks in other Ukrainian regions as well. They are demanding the revocation of the Ukrainian Government’s decision on the resumption of Russian transit through Ukrainian territory.

Since the 11th of February, Ukrainian activists have been blocking the transit of Russian goods through Ukrainian territory. The activists have called on the Ukrainian authorities to officially ban such transit.

On the 14th of February, the Russian Ministry of Transport stated that the movement of freight transport registered in Ukraine was stopped. Russian authorities state that it was in response to the “illegal blocking of Russian vehicles in Ukraine,” and the ban will remain in force until Ukraine resolves the situation with the blockade.

On February 15th, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a decision to temporary suspend the transit of Russian vehicles through Ukraine.

Later, Ukraine and Russia agreed to lift the restrictions on blocked trucks in both countries.

Ukrainian Prime Minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, stated that Kiev is ready to release 25 Russian transport trucks as of the 25th of February.
