Kremlin: Netanyahu to meet with Putin in Moscow on May 9

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will arrive in Moscow on May 9 to meet with Vladimir Putin, as stated in a message published by the Kremlin press service.

The trip by the head of the Israeli government will be a working visit, noted in the Kremlin. In addition, Netanyahu was invited to the Victory Parade on Red Square.

The last communication between the leaders of Russia and Israel was held on April 30. At that time, Netanyahu and Putin held a telephone conversation to discuss the situation around the Iranian nuclear program. In particular, the conversation touched upon charges made by Netanyahu against Tehran shortly before that, claiming that Iran secretly implements the "Amad" program for the development of nuclear weapons and nuclear missile delivery systems. The Israeli Prime Minister said that these charges are based on the "nuclear archive" of Tehran, which was stolen by Israeli intelligence.

Vladimir Putin made gifts to Benjamin Netanyahu during several meetings with the Israeli leader. In August 2017, during a meeting in Sochi, the Russian president gave Netanyahu a copy of a fragment from the Tanakh, a sacred Jewish book, with commentaries of the medieval interpreter Rashi. And in January it became known about another gift - an original letter by Oscar Schindler, which he wrote to his wife. Schindler, a German industrialist during the time of the Holocaust, was famous for saving more than 1,000 Jews.
