DPR head Zakharchenko ready to negotiate with Ukraine after elections
The head of the DPR, Aleksandr Zakharchenko, is ready to enter into negotiations with Ukraine, but only after the elections. He made this statement during a “Direct Line” with residents of the territories of the Donetsk region that are not controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, reported dnr-online news outlet.
“Despite the rhetoric of our opponents and allies that negotiations with Kyiv are impossible, even if tomorrow Poroshenko, Turchinov and others are gone, even if Ukraine as a state ceases to exist, there are people from Poltava, Sumy, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, here we are and we will conduct a dialogue. Not with everyone, of course, there must be an election process,” Zakharchenko said.
He said that for good or for bad, negotiations with Ukrainian authorities must take place.
“The only thing we will talk about is bringing an end to the war. Civilians must stop being killed. But the Ukrainian authorities have refused to negotiate with the Donbas. Today, it is pointless to have a dialogue with them; perhaps the next representatives of Kyiv will have to sit down at the negotiating table. It is just a matter of time,” said the head of the DPR.
