Ukrainian film director Sentsov awarded the title of honorary citizen of Paris

Ukrainian director Oleh Sentsov, who is imprisoned in Russia, has received the title of honorary citizen of Paris, announced the Ambassador of Ukraine in France, Oleh Shamshur on Twitter.

“The city council voted to award Oleh Sentsov the title of honorary citizen of Paris! Thanks to Mayor Anne Hidalgo, as well as to all who supported this decision, for the display of solidarity with the Ukrainian director!”, said the ambassador.

The municipal council of the French capital voted for it unanimously.

A few days before this, a stand appeared in front of city hall, dedicated to Sentsov. The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, reminded that Paris is considered the world capital of human rights.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine reached out to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, proposing the nomination of the Ukrainian director and political prisoner Oleh Sentsov for the Nobel Peace Prize.

As previously reported, a petition to the President of the United States, Donald Trump regarding Oleh Sentsov received the necessary number of votes.
