NATO soldiers to be deployed to Poland in 2017

Poland is ready to accept and station the soldiers of NATO’s international battalion. They will arrive in the country in January and February 2017, as stated by Poland’s Minister of National Defense, Antoni Macierewicz, Radio Polsha reported.

According to Macierewicz, a NATO command on the eastern flank will be created on the basis of the command of the Polish division. He said that the General Staff of the Polish Army have done a great amount of work, not just in their investments in infrastructure, but also in the choice of where the international battalion of US soldiers and commanders will be stationed. He went on to say that Poland is now ready to accept the Alliance’s soldiers.

“The fact that all of this was prepared in a few months shows how successful the current Polish government is,” Macierewicz said. He also said that during the NATO summit in Warsaw, the Alliance proved that it can make and implement decisive decisions in order to protect its sovereignty.

Based on the results of this summit, the decision was made to place a battalion of allied troops on the territories of Poland and the Baltic States.
