Residents from the Donbas and the Crimea need to provide additional identification documents to obtain biometric passports in Ukraine

Residents from Donbas and Crimea need to provide additional identification documents to obtain biometric passports, as stated by the Press Secretary for the State enterprise, Document, Volodymyr Polishchuk, on Espreso.TV.

“To obtain biometric passports, citizens who register in the occupied territories of the Donbas and the Crimea need to provide additional documentation to support their identification”, he said.

Polishchuk stressed that the additional check is due to the impossibility of identifying citizens under Form No. 1.

Certain documents were lost during the events that occurred there, so there is no way to identify people using only Form No. 1. There is a resolution by the Cabinet of Ministers, which recommends additional identification,” he noted. According to Polishchuk, to confirm one’s identity it will be necessary to provide a Ukrainian passport, an identification code, an old passport, a birth certificate, military registration, or other documents.
