Kremlin claims United States has become one of Russia’s top three trade partners

The Russian Ambassador in Washington, Anatoly Antonov stated that trade turnover between Russia and the United States during the last 10 months of 2018 increased by 16% compared to last year, reaching $23.3 billion, Russian news outlet EDaily reports

Antonov said that the United States ranked third among countries investing in the Russian economy and that businessmen working in the Russian market are greatly worried about anti-Moscow sanctions. However, they have no intention to leave a lucrative market and so they explore opportunities for localization and development of production facilities in Russia. 

In 2017, Russia's trade turnover with the United States reached $23.198 billion, an increase of 14.41% over 2016. The US share in Russia's foreign trade turnover in 2017 was 3.97% against 4.34% in 2016. The United States took 6th place by share in Russian trade in 2017 but was in 5th place in 2016. The US share in Russia's exports in 2017 was 3% against 3.28% in 2016. The United States ranked 10th in Russian exports in 2017 as well as in 2016.
