On the night July 24, Israel struck the targets in the area of Tell al-Hara in the North-West of the Daraa province, reports Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA). Air defense systems of the Syrian Armed Forces were activated during the attack. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that is based in the UK, several people were killed during the attack as well as material damage was caused. The purpose of the attack, according to human rights activists, were facilities belonging to the Syrian army and units of the Iranian military and Hezbollah.
The area of Tell al-Hara is the most important strategic point of the Syrian Golan. Syrian military base that is located there has been conducting electronic surveillance of Israel for many years.
At the end of last year, the Syrian army, with the help of Russia regained control of the strategic point. Later, with the mediation of Moscow, an agreement was reached to remove any foreign units at 80 kilometers from Tell al-Hara.
A month and a half ago, Damascus already accused Israel of attacking Tell al-Hara.
