German schoolchildren invited by Russia visit Crimea

17 German pupils came to annexed Simferopol on March 27 in the evening, RIA Novosti reports. The students arrived to participate in the project "Days of Russian and German children’s public diplomacy in Yalta" where they are scheduled to stay for two days.

During the visit, a cooperation agreement will be signed between the ethnic cultural autonomy of Germans in Yalta, the Yalta School Number 01, the Lingua-mir school of foreign languages and one other organization from Germany.

Pavlo Klimkin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that organizers of the visit of German pupils to the annexed Crimea should be held accountable. "Kremlin propagandists have brought German children to the occupied Crimea. The lack of consular and insurance protection makes it a very dangerous adventure. Its organizers must be held accountable,” the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine wrote on Twitter.

The Consul General of Ukraine in Munich, Yuri Yarmilko posted a statement on Facebook demanding that the mayor of Augsburg respond to the issue. "The Consulate General is outraged at the use of children of Augsburg in the Kremlin’s propaganda projects on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine,” the message reads.

In this regard, the Consul General wrote to the Lord Mayor of Augsburg City, Kurt Gribl, asking him "to respond firmly to unacceptable involvement of German minors in dubious political actions.”
