Ukraine’s representative to UN: The Russian delegation to the United Nations has dramatically changed its style

The new Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, does not have any negative emotions towards Ukraine, believes Ukrainian Permanent Representative to the UN Volodymyr Yelchenko.

"It is still too early to talk about changing tactics, [as] the new permanent representative of Russia has been working only a month. However, it is noticeable that the style has changed dramatically, and I would say for the better. This, of course, does not mean a change in Russia's position, but there is not that rudeness and undisguised anger towards Ukraine, which the late Mr. Churkin demonstrated with great pleasure," Yelchenko said in an interview, while commenting on the tactics of the Russian delegation in defending their own interests in the UN.

The Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, died in New York on February 20, the day before his 65th birthday. Feeling poorly, the diplomat was urgently taken to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save his life. On February 24, Vitaly Churkin was buried at the Troyekurovskoye Cemetery.

In July, Vladimir Putin appointed Deputy Foreign Minister Vasily Nebenzya to be Russia's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
