Russian VKontake and Yandex are among the top 5 visited websites in Ukraine
Russian sites VKontakte and Yandex, which are banned in Ukraine, were included in the top five visited sites in December 2017, according to a study by the company Factum Group Ukraine.
This was stated on inau.ua (Internet Association of Ukraine), as reported by Ukrainski Novyny.
According to the research, in the ranking of sites on the Ukrainian Internet, the top five sites in Ukraine are: Google, YouTube and Facebook (usage is 88%, 74%, and 54% respectively); in fourth place is VKontakte (39%), and the last of the five leading sites is Yandex (38%).
Included in the top ten visited sites are Odnoklassniki (8th place with 25%) and Mail.ru (10th place at 32%), which is also banned.
On May 16, 2017, President Petro Poroshenko put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council, according to which the list of individuals and legal entities of the Russian Federation against which sanctions are imposed was expanded. The longer list includes 1228 individuals and 468 legal entities. In particular, access to the social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki is banned in Ukraine, as well as the sites Mail.ru and Yandex.
