Ukrainian Parliament urges the EU to stop construction of Nord Stream 2 pipeline
Deputies of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada urged the EU to rely on Ukraine’s gas transportation network capability, and cease construction of the “politically motivated” Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
233 of the deputies supported the draft resolution in which Ukraine seeks to confirm its strategic role as a transit country of natural gas to the European Union, the 112 Ukraine channel reports.
“We expect ... measures to be taken in order to prevent the construction of a politically motivated project: the transit gas pipeline Nord Stream 2, which threatens the energy security of Ukraine and the whole Europe,” the resolution statement reads.
Verkhovna Rada’s deputies also urged the EU to develop a new Complex Country Support Strategy on the basis of Ukraine’s European plan.
