Ukrainian and Austrian financial intelligence services to increase cooperation
The Ukrainian Financial Monitoring Service’s press service referencing a memorandum signed by the Heads of the Departments, Ihor Cherkassky and Austrian Financial Intelligence Johannes Peham, reported that the Ukrainian and Austrian financial intelligence services intend to strengthen cooperation.
The Ukrainian Financial Monitoring Service and the Austrian Financial Intelligence Unit have confirmed their mutual interest in prosecuting individuals suspected of laundering criminal proceeds, financing terrorism and the proliferating the weapons of mass destruction.
The signed document establishes procedures for the exchange of information on suspicious financial transactions, protection of the information, distribution and transfer of the information to the appropriate competent organizations.
The signing of the memorandum of cooperation with the Financial Intelligence of the Republic of Austria is a vivid example of deepening cooperation of the Ukrainian Financial Monitoring Agency with European partners. By signing memorandums of cooperation, Ukraine contributes to the strengthening of global efforts undertaken by the international community in the area of combating money laundering, financing of terrorism and financing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction,” said Cherkassky.
As of today, the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine has signed 77 international agreements with foreign financial intelligence.
