Ukraine initiates urgent negotiation for exchange of Sentsov
The Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada parliament of Ukraine Lyudmila Denisova responded to the Oleh Sentsov sister’s statement about the catastrophically bad health condition of the Ukrainian political prisoner.
According to her, she asked Russia’s Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova and the Chairman of the Russian Federation Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights, Mikhail Fedotov to discuss any possible conditions for the exchange of the Ukrainian film director, said Denisov on Facebook on Wednesday, August 8.
"I am ready to fly out immediately. I urge the responsible persons of the Russian Federation to provide the aircraft for Oleh Sentsov's transportation to any hospital where they can provide the necessary medical assistance as soon as possible," she wrote.
At the same time, Denisova noted that her visit the Ukrainian political prisoners held by the Russian side that was agreed between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia have not been fulfilled. Therefore, it is impossible to refute or confirm the information about the "relatively stable" state of Sentsov provided by Russia.
She also noted that the Russian President did not acknowledge or respond to the mother's appeal to pardon her son. Russian side again delays Ukraine’s initiative to start the political prisoners' exchange process.
"I urge everybody who is not indifferent to join in and prevent the death of Oleh Sentsov," said Denisova.
Previously, Oleh Sentsov's sister Natalia Kaplan reported that Sentsov almost does not get up and says that his end is near. Yesterday, Ukrainian lawyer Dmitry Dinze reported about the deteriorating health of Oleh Sentsov, who still refuses to be hospitalized and stop an indefinite hunger strike. In addition, the lawyer asked the Russian Federation to transfer Sentsov to the hospital in Simferopol. Wherein the Russian ombudsman representative reported about "relatively stable" Sentsov's condition.
