Ukraine expands sanctions against Russia

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine announced the expansion of sanctions against Russia. The government said that the measures are "mirroring" Russia's previous actions.

According to the head of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv, restrictions will affect some industrial products, mineral fertilizers, vehicles and certain types of agricultural products. These categories were included in the sanctions list and import of these products will be prohibited.

Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers also specified that other Russian goods will be entitled to a special fee starting from August 1. The new charges will be applied in addition to the existing tariffs.

According to the head of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, these measures should "prevent the leakage of money from Ukraine to the aggressor state," increase budget revenues, support Ukrainian manufacturers and create new jobs.

On April 18, the Russian government imposed several restrictions on Ukraine, including a ban on the supply of oil and petroleum products.
