Ukraine completes tests of Skif portable anti-tank missile system
Ukraine’s state-owned Design Bureau Luch has successfully completed the final stage of tests of a new upgraded Skif missile system, which is an export version of the Stugna-P anti-tank missile system, the press service of the Design Bureau reported on Facebook.
"The final stage of testing of the export Skif anti-tank guided missile system was held in the Chernyhiv region in the presence of the customer's representatives. During the tests, launches of guided missiles were carried out. All the specified targets were successfully hit. The customer’s representatives were satisfied and rated highly the unique tactical and technical characteristics of the missiles produced by the Luch Design Bureau," the report says.
The Skif portable anti-tank missile system is designed to engage enemy manpower, mobile and stationary armored targets with combined, spaced or monolithic armor, including those with dynamic defense, as well as small-sized targets such as stationary firing positions, lightly armored vehicles and helicopters.
The main feature of the system is the possibility of aiming the missile at the target indirectly and fire from hidden positions, which reduces the risk of the gunner's death as a result of the enemy's return fire.
The system is equipped with missiles with dual cumulative and high-explosive warheads.
Earlier, the soldiers of the National Guard received 500 American hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers for the first time.
