Ukraine and Moldova sign memorandum on cooperation in gas supply security
On December 13, the Ukrainian Energy and Environmental Protection Ministry and the Moldovan Economy and Infrastructure Ministry signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in gas supply security, reports Interfax-Ukraine, citing the representative of the Ukrainian Ministry Svitlana Karpyshyna.
"Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine on the cooperation in the area of security of gas supply was signed today in Chisinau. I hope we will never need to implement it," wrote Karpyshyna on her Facebook page.
In November, Moldova and Russia agreed to extend the contract for the supply of gas from January 1, 2020. Now Moldova receives Russian gas through Ukraine, but during the meeting, parties have discussed bypass routes, including the reverse routes through Romania and Bulgaria.
