Kyiv: Ukraine and Great Britain may start joint production of weapons

Ivanna Klimpush-Tsintsadze, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, discussed prospects for joint production of weapons with the Minister of State for Defense of Britain, and Deputy Leader of the House of Lords, Earl Howe (Frederick Richard Penn Curzon).

According to the press service of the Ukrainian government, the topic was discussed during a meeting on Friday.

"The parties discussed prospects for joint production of arms and military equipment on the territory of Ukraine with the participation of British companies," the report said.

“We believe that Ukrainian-British military-technical cooperation, especially in the production of high-tech weapons, has significant potential,” Klimpush-Tsintsadze noted.

The Vice Prime Minister also expressed her hope that the British government will play a more active role in international efforts aimed at unblocking the proposal for the deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbass.

The parties discussed the effectiveness of sanctions against Russia and the implementation of the Minsk agreement. In addition, they discussed the problems of countering the hybrid threats, information influence and cyberattacks.

"We have a common understanding of the threats and challenges to security, and the UK is grateful to Ukraine for the opportunity to gain experience in effective fight for this," said the state minister of Great Britain.

The parties also touched upon the decision of the Special Conference on the Chemical Convention in response to chemical attacks in Salisbury and Syria.

Klimpush-Tsintsadze noted that Ukraine supports this decision, and the international community must continue to work together to protect the international system based on nonproliferation rules.

"Earlier, Earl Howe expressed gratitude to the government of Ukraine for the support to the tragedy in Salisbury,” the message of the Ukrainian government reads.
