Turkey welcomes coalition strikes on Syria
The Turkish government issued an official statement welcoming the operation of the countries of the international coalition in Syria and calling it "a manifestation of the conscience of mankind," reports the agency Anadolu.
Turkey states that the international community had "serious grounds" to accuse the regime of Bashar al-Assad of using chemical weapons against the civilian population.
"The list of war crimes and crimes against humanity carried out by the regime of Bashar al-Assad during the conflict, which has been going on for more than seven years, is well-known. The international community shares a common position on this issue. The entire world community, especially the members of the UN Security Council, must agree on joint steps in response to the use of chemical weapons," the Turkish foreign ministry said in a statement.
