Turkey signs contract with European conglomerate Eurosam to develop anti-air defense systems

Turkey has signed a contract with the French-Italian military enterprise, the Eurosam, to conduct research on the development of a new anti-aircraft defense system.

“The future system, equipped with modern technical abilities to defend against the most dangerous threats (stealth aircraft, winged, and ballistic missiles) will be ready by the mid-twenties,” a press-release from the company said.

The research which will be conducted over 18 months will lay the foundation for a contract to develop and produce a new anti-air defense system tailored to the technical requirements of the Turkish Air Forces.

The company expects that the new anti-air defense will satisfy the basic current needs of the Turkish national defense and help the country select its own level of integration within NATO standards.

The company also does not exclude selling the system for export in the future.

The contract was signed during a meeting between the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, and the President of Turkey, Tayyip Erdogan, in Paris.
