Turkey refuses to recognize the annexation of Crimea by Russia

During a meeting with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Turkish President Recep Erdoğan said that Turkey has no plans to recognize the annexation of Crimea to Russia, reports RIA Novosti news agency.

Erdoğan assured that Ankara will always support the independence of Ukraine and "will never recognize the annexation of Crimea." Also, the Turkish President promised to protect the rights of the Crimean Tatars.

Earlier, the representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Anton Korynevych said that Crimea’s return to Ukraine might be discussed with the participation of the US, UK, and Turkey.

Zelensky, in turn, expressed confidence that the Peninsula will return to Ukraine.
