Stoltenberg and Lavrov discuss creation of new US military base in Poland

NATO Secretary Jens Stoltenberg spoke about his meeting with the Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, where they discussed the question of creating an American military base on the territory of Poland, reports RIA Novosti.

“We discussed this (issue of the American base in Poland) during the meeting,” Stoltenberg said.

At the same time, the Secretary-General did not disclose the details of the conversation with Lavrov regarding the construction of a US base in Poland.

In turn, the NATO press service reported that, during the conversation, Stoltenberg and Lavrov discussed the recent Russian exercise Vostok-2018, as well as future exercises by the North Atlantic Alliance Trident Juncture. In addition, the NATO Secretary General discussed with the Russian Foreign Minister the situation in eastern Ukraine as well as the poisoning in Salisbury, England.

At the conclusion of the conversation, Stoltenberg and Lavrov agreed to keep the line of communicatio, said the NATO press service.
