Russian border guards seize Ukrainian fishing vessel in the Black Sea
On Friday, May 4, Russian Border Guard service detained a Ukrainian fishing boat in the Black Sea, the press service of the Russian Border Guard of the FSB of Russia in the Crimea reported.
"On May 4, west of Cape Tarkhankut in the waters of the Black Sea, the ship Ametist of the Border Service of the Federal Security Service of Russia in Crimea detained the Ukrainian fishing vessel YMK-0041 (port of registration - Ochakov, Ukraine), which was engaged in illegal fishing of flounder with fishing nets in the exclusive economic zone of the Russian Federation," the message of the Russian Border Guard service reads.
The Russian Border Guard added that the vessel and the crew consisting of five Ukrainian citizens were taken to to the territory of the Crimea for criminal proceedings against them.
Earlier, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that Russian border guards are stopping foreign ships that are sailing in direction of Ukraine every day and conduct crew checks.
On March 25 the ship of maritime security of the State Border Service detained in the Ukrainian waters of the Sea of Azov Nord fishing vessel under the Russian flag, registered in the Crimea. Documents of 10 crew members were issued in the city of Kerch. At the same time, on March 28, the Crimean FSB Directorate opened a criminal case against the serviceman of the Ukrainian Border Guard Service who took part in the seizure of the Russian vessel.
