Russia not invited to General Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Kyiv

The Russian Federation is not invited to the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), which will take place in Kyiv, reports Interfax.

“An absolutely unprecedented incident has occurred, which the Ukrainian side – the host country – did not invite Russia – a member country – to a BSEC General Assembly meeting. This is the first such incident in the 25-year history of the BSEC,” said Russia’s delegation head, State Duma deputy Mikhail Emelyanov.

According to Emelyanov, the BSEC is rather complex organization that includes countries with two-sided conflicts, “but there has never been a case in which a country in heated conflict with another member did not invite [its] delegation to a meeting.”
He stated that Russia will “closely follow the situation at the BSEC General Assembly meeting in Kyiv.”

“If any kind of anti-Russian decisions are passed, we will, of course, dispute them, including through legal means,” he warned.

The Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) unites twelve governments of the Black Sea and South Balkan regions. It was created to foster cooperation, peace and stability in the Black Sea basin.

The milestone 50th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) will take place in Kyiv in November.
