Putin says his spokesman 'sometimes talks nonsense'
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that sometimes he does not understand his press secretary Dmitry Peskov, whose statements are considered to be the official position of the Kremlin.
During an interview with the American channel NBC, Putin was asked to comment on statements by Andrei Krutskikh, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cooperation in Information Security that appeared to confirm Russian interference in the American elections. Putin responded to this by saying that he "does not control everything."
"Some person spoke about his relationship with our contacts and his work in a particular sphere with our foreign partners, in this case the US. Yes, I have no idea what he said. You ask him then what he meant. Do you really think that I control everything?…We have two thousand administrative staff, do you really think that I control everyone? There Peskov sits opposite [me], my Press Secretary, [and] he sometimes talks such nonsense, I look on TV and I think: What is he saying there? Who asked him this?" Putin declared.
Putin said that Russia did not interfere in the US presidential elections, because Russia allegedly does not allow itself to get involved in other countries’ domestic affairs.
The interview with President Putin was conducted by well-known American journalist Megyn Kelly. It was aired on the evening of March 9.
