Putin says he is disappointed that Trump is not respected in the US
Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his regret over the lack of respect that his American counterpart Donald Trump receives in his own country, the United States.
According to Putin, Trump is worthy of respect. "Mr. Trump was chosen by the American people and, at least for this reason, he should be respected, even if they do not agree with some of his positions. He is disrespected in his country. This is a regrettable negative component of the American political system," TASS quoted Putin as saying.
One of the participants of the Valdai Discussion Club asked Putin what advice he could give to Trump, to which Putin responded that he thought the question was irrelevant.
"I think that the President of the United States does not need any advice, because to be elected without extensive administrative work experience, you need to have a certain talent and go through this crucible. He did it," the president of the Russian Federation said, adding that Trump "won honestly."
Speaking of other modern world leaders, Putin called former Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Alibaba CEO Jack Ma "really great."
"It's one thing to lead the United States or Russia, or China, and it's another thing to lead Afghanistan in the conditions of an ongoing civil war, maneuvering between different forces, putting himself almost daily in the path of the bullets. You need courage and that's where leadership was needed," the President stressed. He also said that Jack Ma "created such a colossal computer empire."
