Putin is ready for dialogue with Trump
On Sunday, December 30th, the Kremlin press service reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin in a New Year’s message to his American counterpart Donald Trump confirmed Moscow’s openness to have a dialogue with Washington.
“In a congratulatory message to the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, with Christmas, and New Year holidays in tow, Vladimir Putin stressed that Russian-American relations are critical to ensuring strategic stability and international security and confirmed that Russia is open to dialogue with the US, in an extensive way,” reads the statement.
Putin wished a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to nearly 40 heads of states and governments, as well as leaders of international organizations.
At the same time, Putinn did not congratulate the leaders of Georgia and Ukraine Salome Zurabishvili and Petro Poroshenko.
Two meetings between Trump and Putin were expected in the fall, in Paris and Buenos Aires, but neither one took place. In particular, before the start of the G20 summit in Argentina, Trump canceled the meeting with Putin because of the conflict in the Kerch Strait.
