Putin agrees to visit North Korea

Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted an invitation from Kim Jong-un to visit North Korea.

It was reported that during the meeting in Vladivostok, the North Korean leader invited Putin to come to the DPRK at a time convenient for the Russian president and the invitation was readily accepted.

The South Korean daily business newspaper Maeil Business Newspaper (mk.co.kr) also reported Putin’s readiness to come to North Korea.

The meeting between President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Supreme Leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-un took place on April 25, 2019 on Russky Island.

The talks between the two heads of state were preceded by a solemn ceremony. After the welcoming ceremony, the President of Russia and the North Korean leader held a private conversation.

According to Putin, the parties discussed the situation on the Korean Peninsula and what steps were necessary to improve it. Kim Jong-un, in turn, called the conversation with Putin informative and thanked him for the invitation to visit Russia.
