Pro-Russian militants in Donbas open fire on OSCE drone in the presence of observers

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine reports that five LPR militants from the so-called Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) opened fire on drone of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in the presence of observers.

The incident occurred on February 15 in a disengagement area in the village of Zolote. While at the LPR checkpoint, observers warned the militants that an SMM mid-range UAV was flying in the area. However, the armed formations opened fire on the UAV from ten meters away from the OSCE patrol.

“The SMM observed five members of the armed formations standing at the same checkpoint about 10 meters from the SMM. Each of them aimed an assault rifle at a UAV that was flying south of the checkpoint at an altitude of about 300 meters and fired about 60 shots in its direction,” the report said.

The SMM informed the members of the armed formations that it was an SMM UAV and the members of the armed group stopped shooting. The drone was undamaged.
