Press Secretary of Putin’s election headquarters becomes top manager of Russia's state-owned TV and Radio broadcaster
Andrey Kondrashov, the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) journalist and press secretary of Vladimir Putin’s election headquarters, was appointed as first deputy general director of VGTRK, Russian RBC news agency reports. Previously, information regarding Kondrashov’s new post at VGTRK was reported by the Russian BBC service, referencing four unnamed employees of the holding.
When asked in an interview with the RBC whether the information about his new appointment was correct, Kondrashov stated: “Yes, it is. There are now two first deputies in the VGTRK: Anton Zlatopolsky and myself. My responsibilities include coordination of information and political broadcasting for the holding and for special projects.”
Kondrashov’s appointment as the first deputy general director of VGTRK was confirmed by the company’s press service, stating that “Kondrashov will oversee the direction of information.”
Journalist and TV presenter Andrey Kondrashov hosted the “Vesti Nedeli (News of the week)” program, heading its management since 2016. In January 2018, Kondrashov became a spokesman for Putin’s campaign headquarters.
Kondrashov is the author of several documentary films including “Crimea. Path to the Motherland”, which focuses on the events of spring 2014 during Russia’s annexation of the Crimea. The film features a lengthy interview with Putin.
Kondrashov also created the documentary titled “Putin”, which consists of a series of interviews discussing the Russian president. The film features interviews with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
