Ukrainian President and Prime Minister of Sweden discuss strengthening sanctions against Russia

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's conducted telephone conversation with Swedish Prime Minister Kjell Stefan Löfven, according to a report published on the Ukrainian President’s website.

Ukrainian President highly appreciated Sweden's unwavering position in support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and expressed gratitude for the practical assistance of the Swedish side in overcoming the consequences of the Russian aggression and the implementation of the reform policy in Ukraine.

Proshenko also expressed hope for the further strengthening of the EU sanctions policy against Russia, including the so-called "Azov package."

"Particular attention was paid to the implementation, with the active participation of Sweden, of the proposal to deploy the UN peacekeeping mission in the occupied Donbas," says the report.

Poroshenko also noted the importance of intensifying efforts for the immediate release of Ukrainian hostages, including sailors from Ukrainian prisons.

The sides agreed on the need to consolidate positive trends in bilateral trade and investment cooperation between the countries.
