Polish President stresses the importance of military cooperation between Poland and Ukraine

Polish President Andrzej Duda stressed the importance of cooperation between his country and Ukraine as “Poland's big neighbor, which has an ambition to become a member of NATO”.

Duda spoke bout Ukraine’s contribution to the brigade during his visit to the headquarters of the international LitPolUkrbrig brigade named after Konstantin Ostrogsky in Lublin together with the presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania, the press service of the Ukrainian President reported.

Duda drew attention to the importance of the real combat experience of the Ukrainian military for the training of the entire brigade.

“Ukraine has been in a difficult situation since 2014. It is occupied by Russia. Ukrainian soldiers are really fighting. These are soldiers who took part in a real war. They have a practical experience and share it with our soldiers, which is what we need,” said the president of Poland.

In addition, Duda said that 2019 will be a busy year for the military brigades. Multinational joint military exercises with the American and Canadian military are planned with the involvement of the military from Georgia and Moldova.

LitPolUkrbrig brigade is expected to take part in operations under the auspices of the UN, NATO and the EU. The main tasks of the brigade include international efforts to ensure peace, deepening regional military cooperation and laying the foundation for the creation of an EU battle group on the basis of the brigade. The headquarters of the brigade is in Lublin.
