Yatsenyuk Given Ultimatum by BPP Faction

Ukrainian Prime Minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, has to either establish a Cabinet of Ministers that the Verkhovna Rada would support or resign, as stated by the leader of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc party in Parliament, Yuriy Lutsenko, after a meeting held by the President, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

"In sports terminology, the ball is now in the Prime Minister’s court. Yesterday he formally managed to retain his position, although he lost the support of four of the five factions. That is why he has to now decide whether he will propose a new government with an effective action plan and receive 226 votes or realize that the government is not possible without Parliament’s support and resigns. He has to decide on the matter within days," explained Lutsenko.

Furthermore, he also emphasized that the BPP faction will not revoke the signatures of the Coalition Agreement, however, he notes that in fact, the coalition has collapsed.

"We are not going to revoke the signatures of the Coalition Agreement. The coalition has collapsed. We are asked whether we are going to pull out of the coalition, but it no longer exists. As I have already said, we are not going to revoke signatures, as far as this agreement is concerned, it is our document and that is what we support. It is the Yatsenyuk Government that led to the collapse of the coalition because of inactivity in the key areas that society needs," Lutsenko stated.

As was reported by Apostrophe, the leader of the Batkivshchyna party, Yulia Tymoshenko stated that she would initiate the conversation regarding Yatsenyuk’s resignation.
