US provided $22 million worth of equipment to military training center in Ukraine
The Press Service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has reported that the US provided equipment worth $22 million for a military training center in the Lviv region.
"At the training center in Yavoriv, next month, a simulation center will open that will be one of the best in Europe, covering an area of 3.5 thousand square meters. The US has provided support in the form of equipment worth $22 million," the report said.
The Ukrainian Minister of Defense, Stepan Poltorak, made assurances that the Ukrainian military has "full mutual understanding with foreign instructors".
"They will help us prepare methodical literature, and help our instructors personally. In addition, they will help us understand what is necessary to equip the army," the Ukrainian Defense Minister said.
According to Poltorak, the joint training gives "a good chance of fulfilling the criteria and standards that exist in all the countries of the Alliance."
The United States has spent more than $600 million over three years to provide material and technical assistance to the Ukrainian military and to train the Ukrainian armed forces.
Earlier, the US State Department's Special Representative for Ukraine, Kurt Volker, stated that there are more Russian tanks in Ukraine than in the whole of Western Europe. He noted that the Trump administration is considering the possibility of supplying defensive weapons to Ukraine.
