Ukrainian Parliament may vote on Groisman for Prime Minister next week

The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada may consider the candidacy of Parliamentary Speaker Vladimir Groisman for the post of Prime Minister as early as Tuesday, March 29th, according to an MP from the Block Petro Poroshenko Faction, Artur Gerasimov, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

"I sincerely believe that we will come out on Tuesday to vote on the candidacy of Prime Minister,” Gerasimov told reporters on Friday.

According to him, the factions belonging to the ruling coalition will discuss the candidacy of Groisman over the weekend.

"I think that the candidacy of Groisman will unite the Parliament and the Cabinet of Ministers [which will] begin productive work on the rapid progress of reforms,” Gerasimov said.

Earlier this week, the so-called "Strategic Seven" decided to put Groisman forth as a candidate.

Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko is also in the running for the post of Prime Minister, but the ruling coalition rejected her candidacy after she submitted the list of people with whom she refuses to work, which included Vladimir Demchyshyn, who heads the Ministry of Energy.
